A review of the last week
Last week has mostly been more data collection, I'm trying to get as much of that done before I start messing with the driver, just incase adding in the palindrome detector causes an alteration of the data (and so I have plenty of data to compare before/after results with). In terms of the palindrome detector, I've reduced it to a function in the program, so theoretically all I have to do is add in 3 lines of code to add to the features string. (the features 21 - 25 will be the number of palindromes of size 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, just for further reference)Most of the Celegans data is collected (I still can't get the information for my CAll-102 to be read into gCluto, no idea why, since the files look just fine) and the Drosophila goes a LOT faster.
I've completed a program that automates parameter file and folder construction, which doesn't do much other than save some busywork. Maybe next thing I should do is work on a program that reads in a summary output file and outputs the information needed for the spreadsheet. I'll put that under "Things to do after 5:00".
I spent some time in the Science Library, but the person there wasn't terribly helpful, and I didn't really find any books to help me. So I've moved onto journals. Found two or three that mention identification of introns and exons, and have ordered those, figuring that, if anything, it couldn't hurt.
At this point, I guess I could go talk to someone in the biology department, but I'm not sure who I'd talk to, so I'll probably just drop by one day and see who's around (probably nobody, considering how empty its been this summer).
So, yeah, busy week, if not very exciting.
