   Each year, the entries for the web contest must adhere to a specific theme. Developers may be as creative as possible with their entry, but they must stay within the overall theme.

   The theme for this year's contest is:

EDUCATIONAL/TUTORIAL SITE FOR ELEMENTARY SCHOOL CHILDREN

   Developers may select any subject or topic as their focus. They may also select any specific age level in the Kindergarten-5th grade range.

   Each team may consist of at least one developer and no more than three. No more than two teams from one school may register.

   Entry form submission deadline -- September 24, 2004
   Final web site submission deadline -- October 8, 2004
   Judging starts -- October 15, 2004

   Submission deadlines are at midnight of the dates given above.

1. Entries are to be registered using the on-line form provided on the website. (The student registration form for the conference is to be used only by those who wish to register for the conference itself. Note that web contest winners are required to do so.)
2. The registration cost per entry is $20. (In addition, the team sponsor is required to register for the Southeastern conference.) Send a check for the contest registration fee (payable to CCSC) to

   by September 24. Please include the name and contact information (including e-mail address) for the sponsor.

3. Submitted pages must be hosted on the contest web site. Sites should be appropriately archived and sent via e-mail (with installation instructions) by the published deadline to Becky Tallon.
4. If a site requires server side facilities that cannot be provided on the contest web site, then arrangement to house the web on an alternate server may be made with the contest registrar. Pages housed on an external server must be accessible at the registered URL during the judging period. The source for all pages housed on an external server must be submitted during the registration process.
5. All pages must be viewable using Netscape Navigator(TM) 6.0 or higher and Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher on a Win- 2000 or XP.
6. Submission should adhere to current copyright laws, fair use practice, First Amendment, trademark, defamation, and linking and framing considerations.

   First- and second-place winners must register for the conference at the student rate, giving them access to all sessions, exhibits and keynote addresses. In addition, they receive a Saturday luncheon ticket. A banquet ticket is not included for Web contest winners, but may be purchased separately upon registration.

   First Place -- $250
   Second Place -- $150

   Developers of the winning sites will be notified immediately after the judging phase is complete. First- and second-place winners are expected to register for the conference (at the student rate) and to be present at the conference luncheon for the presentation of the awards. If the winning site was developed by a team, attendance by one representative of the team is sufficient.

   All contest entries will (if possible) be displayed in the conference exhibit area throughout the conference.
