Sunday, September 28: We spent Sunday seeing some of the sights in Irkutsk itself. We started with the eternal flame commemorating the founding of the city. This was actually the anniversary of the founding, and thus there were special celebrations all over the city. Police guards were everywhere. They were intimidating, but not especially effective -- we walked right up and took all the pictures we wanted!
